Tata Motors has planned a slew of new cars across segments that will hit roads in the next 2-3 years. While its top-selling Tiago hatchback and Nexon subcompact SUV will enter into their new generation, the Curvv and Sierra SUV will come with ICE and EV powertrains sometime in 2024 and 2025 respectively. The carmaker will also bring in electric iteration of the Harrier SUV next year. Here’re some key details of the aforementioned upcoming new Tata cars.
Upcoming New Tata Cars
Tata Curvv
Tata Curvv was showcased in its concept avatar at this year’s Auto Expo in January. The model underpins the brand’s Generation 2 EV architecture, which is essentially the heavily modified version of the existing platforms. The architecture supports multiple bodystyles and powertrains along with accommodating larger battery packs. The Curvv SUV will come with both petrol and electric powertrain options. Its petrol version is likely to get Tata’s new 1.2L turbo engine that’s good for 125PS and 225Nm. The production-ready Tata Curvv will take on the Maruti Grand Vitara and Hyundai Creta. Tata Harrier EV
The Tata Harrier electric SUV will be the second major production model to be designed on Tata’s Gen 2 platform. The carmaker unveiled the model at the 2023 Auto Expo. In terms of design and styling, the concept shares strong resemblance with its ICE-powered version. What differentiate it are the new blanked-off grille, split headlamps with newly-designed LED light bars, blacked house, revised bumper, and angular creases. The Harrier EV has ‘EV’ badges on the fenders along with the larger wheels and flush door handles. Inside, the electric SUV might have autonomous aids, full connectivity, and advanced tech. Tata Sierra
Tata Sierra is surely one of the most-awaited upcoming new Tata cars in India. We have seen its close-to-production version at the Delhi Auto Expo 2023. The SUV measures around 4.3 metres in length and underpins the Gen 2 platform. Similar to the Curvv, the Sierra will be offered with petrol and electric powertrain options. The petrol model might house Tata’s new 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo motor under the hood. Transmission choices are likely to include a manual and a dual-clutch automatic unit. If reports are to be believed, the Tata Sierra EV might have a 60kWh battery pack and offer a range around 500km. More details here…
New-Gen Tata Nexon & Tiago
The new-generation Tata Nexon and Tiago are expected to go on sale in the next couple of years. Though, there is no official information on the upcoming models. Reports suggest that the all-new Nexon might share some of its design elements with the Tata Curvv concept. On the feature front, the SUV might get a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest smartphone connectivity and voice command function and a new instrument cluster.
