New Tata Sierra Preview
Interior
The dashboard design and a flat-bottom steering wheel (with mounted controls) look quite futuristic. It has a uniquely designed instrument cluster. The Sierra SUV is expected to be offered in two seating configurations – the regular 5-seater (with rear bench seat) and the 4-seater lounge version. In order to ensure premium experience, the lounge variant will have independent seats at the rear with electric adjustment feature.
The might come with the ottoman function and individual display for the rear seat passengers. The green seat belt might be retained from the showcased model. Tata will also equip it with several advanced connectivity and safety features and comfort goodies.
Petrol, Electric Powertrains – Specs
Measuring around 4.3 metres in length, the new Tata Sierra SUV will be designed on the Gen 2 (Sigma) platform. It’s a monocoque, hybrid architecture supporting both ICE and electric powertrains. The petrol version might come with Tata’s new 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo motor, which will deliver power close to 170bhp. It can be had with either a manual or an automatic gearbox. The carmaker might offer a dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) with the Sierra petrol.
While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed the EV specifications, it’s expected to come with a 60kWh battery pack. Its range will be around 500km on a single charge. The new Tata Sierra EV could be offered with the AWD system. It’s petrol version, however, will be available with the RWD setup only.
Design
The recently showcased version of the new Sierra SUV has a proper four door setup. The dual-tone alloy wheels appear production ready. The carmaker has retained Sierra’s iconic design elements such as the body-coloured B-pillar. The C-pillar and rear portion have a glass house effect.
