Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door SUV is certainly one of the much-anticipated new car launches of this year. The model will enter into its series production in the month of April and hit showrooms in May 2023. Bookings for the 5-door Maruti Jimny have already been commenced and it gathered 18,000 pre-orders so far.
The company aims to manufacture around 1 lakh units on annual basis, out of which around 66 percent will be for the domestic market. That means, around 7,000 units of the new Maruti Jimny 5-door SUV will be produced per month for the Indian market. Once launched, the new 5-door Maruti Jimny will take on the Mahindra Thar 5-door, which is reported to debut towards the end of this year or early next year.
The SUV model lineup comes in two trims – Zeta and Alpha – powered by a 1.5L K15B petrol engine with mild hybrid tech. The setup offers a claimed power of 103bhp and 134Nm of torque. The 5-door Jimny can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. It gets Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro drivetrain system with a dedicated low-ratio transfer case. Its departure angle, approach angle and ramp over angle stand at 50 degree, 36 degree and 24 degree respectively. The SUV has a ground clearance of 210mm. The top-end Zeta trim has been packed with some exclusive features such as LED headlamps, auto headlamps, headlamp washers, fog lamps, body-coloured door handles, alloy wheels, keyless start, cruise control, climate control, Arkamys sound system and a 9.0-inch touchscreen SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system.
The standard feature kit includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 4-speaker audio system, coloured MID display, reversing camera, power windows, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, steel wheels, seatbelt pre tensioners, Isofix child seat anchorages, brake limited slip differential, 6 airbags and electronic stability program.
