5 Exciting New Cars & SUVs To Debut In Coming Months

In the next few months, we will witness a wide range of new SUVs and cars will be launched in our market. The next edition of Delhi Auto Expo is scheduled in January, and big automakers are planning to present their future cars at the event. Here is a list of top 5 exciting new cars and SUVs to make global debut in coming months –

1. Toyota Innova Hycross

The much-awaited Toyota Innova Hycross MPV will make global debut in Indonesia in November, 2022. The Indonesian-spec model will be called the Innova Zenix and will come with all-new design and interior along with new engine options. It will be based on the front-wheel-drive monocoque (TNGA-C) platform instead of a rear-wheel-drive ladder-frame chassis that underpins the current Innova Crysta. It will come with a factory-fitted sunroof, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument console, wireless charging system and ADAS tech. The MPV will come with two engine options – a 2.0L petrol and a 2.0L petrol with a strong hybrid tech. The vehicle could get the heavily localized version of the THS II (Toyota Hybrid System), which has a twin-motor layout that enhance its high ‘step-off’ torque and fuel efficiency.

2. New-Gen Honda WR-V

Japanese automaker, Honda is all set to unveil an all-new compact SUV based on the RS SUV Concept in the next few months. Rumoured to be called the new Honda WR-V, the new compact SUV will be based on the Amaze platform which shares commonalities with the City platform. The new model will share styling cues from the bigger Honda SUVs including the HR-V and the BR-V. The next-gen WR-V compact SUV is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that produces 121PS and 145Nm of torque. Transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. This is the same powertrain that powers the City sedan. The SUV could also receive a 1.5L Atkinson cycle engine with e:HEV hybrid tech. Honda is also expected to launch the new compact SUV in the country in 2023.

3. Maruti YTB Crossover/ Toyota Crossover

After introducing the Grand Vitara, MSIL is now preparing to launch an all-new crossover based on the Baleno hatchback. Codenamed YTB, the new model is scheduled to make debut at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. Not just Maruti, Toyota will also introduce its own version of the YTB Crossover in the market. The new Maruti YTB Crossover is reportedly to be launched in our market in February 2023. It will share the interior and key features with the Baleno hatchback. It is likely to be powered by a new 1.0 litre Boosterjet petrol engine that is likely to produce around 100bhp and 150Nm of torque. The engine is likely to get a 48V mild hybrid SHVS system with integrated starter generator. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer. The entry level variants are also likely to get a 1.2L NA petrol engine with manual and AMT gearbox options.

4. 5-Door Maruti Jimny

Maruti Suzuki is also preparing to launch the new long-wheelbase Jimny lifestyle SUV in the country in 2023. The 5-door model is scheduled to make global debut at the 2023 Auto Expo in the second week of January. Based on the 3-door Jimny Sierra, the 5-door model will ride on 300mm longer wheelbase and the length will be increased by 300mm. It will have a ground clearance of over 200mm. The new model will be sold via Maruti’s NEXA premium dealership network. The 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be powered by a new 1.5-litre K15C naturally-aspirated petrol with a mild hybrid set-up. This engine is capable of producing 101bhp and 137Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The new Jimny 5 door will come fitted with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro AWD setup, which is the most capable version of Suzuki’s AllGrip tech.

5. New Hyundai Verna

Hyundai has fast paced the development of the new-gen Verna sedan, which is expected to be launched at Auto Expo 2023. The new-gen Hyundai Verna will be based on the modified platform and will be bigger and spacious than the outgoing model. It will rival the likes of the Skoda Slavia, VW Taigun and Honda City. The new sedan is also expected to come with a long list of features including ADAS technology with features like autonomous emergency braking, collision warning & avoidance system, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control and others. The 2023 Hyundai Verna sedan is expected to be offered with 3 engine options – a 115bhp, 1.5L NA petrol, a 115bhp, 1.5L turbo-diesel and a more powerful 138bhp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.
