The American SUV maker, Jeep has announced to launch the all-new Grand Cherokee SUV in our market on November 11, 2022. This will be the fourth Jeep model to be locally assembled; Jeep India is currently developing the Compass, Meridian and the Wrangler at its Ranjangaon facility. It will sit above the Meridian in Jeep’s line-up in our market.
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee comes with new styling elements inspired from the Wagoneer and the Meridian/Commander. It features a refreshed seven-slot grille and slim headlamp setup with LED daytime running lights. The SUV’s rear has more raking design, and has a floating roof effect at the D-pillar. It comes with re-styled rear pillars, which should improve the aerodynamic efficiency.
Jeep is most likely to launch the standard five-seat version of the Grand Cherokee not the Cherokee L 3-row SUV. Inside the cabin, the new model comes with a re-styled dashboard that incorporates a larger 10.1-inch central touchscreen and a 10.1-inch digital instrument console. There is a new dedicated 10.1-inch screen embedded in the dashboard for the front passenger. It gets a 10-inch head-up display, a wireless smartphone charging system, rear seat entertainment screens and smartphone connectivity.
Jeep has confirmed that the new Grand Cherokee for India will come with a full suite of Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS), full connectivity package with 24×7 dedicated assistance and a host of premium features. The new Jeep Grand Cherokee 5-seater is around 294mm shorter than the Grand Cherokee L.
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-charged petrol engine, which will be paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard. It will come with four wheel drive system with selectable terrain modes – Auto, Sport, Mud/Sand, and Snow. The new SUV will take on the likes of the Mercedes GLE, BMW X5 and Land Rover Discovery.
