Maruti Suzuki, the leading Indo-Japanese automaker, has firmly established its dominance in the SUV segment with the successful launch of the Grand Vitara and the 5-door Jimny. Building on this momentum, the company has announced its commitment to further fortify its SUV product portfolio with the introduction of new models. Maruti Suzuki is also gearing up for a significant refresh in its lineup, with a generation change planned for two of its highly popular models – the Swift and Dzire. Here’s a glimpse of key details for the four upcoming Maruti Suzuki cars slated to hit the market in 2024:
Three-row SUV
The one of the upcoming releases is a highly anticipated 7-seater premium SUV. Although Maruti Suzuki has not disclosed the precise launch date, industry reports suggest it is slated to debut in the second half of 2024. This new model will draw inspiration from the Grand Vitara SUV and share its platform, features, and powertrains with its sibling. Expectations are high, as the 7-seater SUV is set to offer the powerful 1.5L K15C and the efficient 1.5L Atkinson cycle strong hybrid powertrain options. The production hub for this three-row SUV will be the newly revamped facility in Kharkhoda.
eVX Electric SUV
The Indo-Japanese automaker is currently conducting tests on its inaugural electric vehicle for the Indian market. This upcoming electric SUV draws inspiration from the eVX concept, a prototype showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. Based on an entirely new skateboard platform, the electric SUV is anticipated to have a length of approximately 4.3 meters. Enthusiasts can look forward to the production-ready Maruti eVX hitting Indian roads in time for the festive season in 2024. Maruti Suzuki’s manufacturing facility in Gujarat will serve as the production hub for the eVX electric SUV, emphasizing a high level of localization. This strategic move is expected to translate into a competitive and aggressive price tag for the electric offering.
New Swift & Dzire
In addition to the SUV lineup, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to unveil the new-generation Swift hatchback and Dzire subcompact sedan. These eagerly awaited models are scheduled to hit the market in February and April 2024, respectively. Both vehicles are anticipated to feature the brand’s latest 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine, coupled with a CVT gearbox. The global offering of the new Swift will include a Hybrid powertrain option. Media reports indicate impressive fuel efficiency figures for both the hybrid and non-hybrid Swift, with an estimated 24.50kmpl and 23.40kmpl, respectively. This signifies a notable improvement in fuel efficiency compared to the current generation.
