Suzuki has recently revealed the new-gen Swift concept at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show. Now, the new Maruti Swift has been caught testing on the Indian roads. The concept showcased at the Japan Mobility Show was looked-like a near production model. The recent sightings of the camouflaged test mules on the Indian roads confirm that the launch could take place sometime in early next year.

The spotted model was heavily covered in thick clothing; however, the headlamps and tail-lamps are visible. The overall design elements confirm that the spotted car is the new-gen Swift. The new Maruti Swift retains the overall silhouette with subtle design changes and new lighting setup. It comes with sharper headlamps and tail-lamps, a redesigned grille and new bumper. There is a strong shoulder line that runs across the length of the hatchback.
The fourth generation Suzuki Swift is built on the heavily updated version of the existing HEARTECT platform. The overall shape and size of the new Swift is largely identical to the existing model, as it rides on the same 2,450mm wheelbase. The new model is 15mm longer, 40mm narrower and 30mm taller compared to the third-gen model.
The interior is not visible in the spy images; however, the Swift concept had an all-new cabin with strong resemblance with the Baleno & Fronx’s interior. It comes with a 9-inch floating touchscreen infotainment screen, the 3-spoke steering wheel, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and an automatic air conditioning. In fact, the switchgears appear largely identical to the one offered on the new age Maruti Suzuki models.
The concept was equipped with advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) and rear disc brakes; however, the India-spec model won’t be offered with any of these two features. Suzuki could bring the sportier version of the Swift with rear disc brakes in India. The spotted model is fitted with blacked-out wheels, which looks 16-inch in size.
The new-gen Swift concept was equipped with the new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. This Z Series engine is claimed to meet the stringent BS6 emission standards and CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency) Phase 2 regulations. The India-spec model is also rumoured to feature a strong hybrid powertrain. The powertrain will be coupled to Toyota’s hybrid tech.
