March 2021 will surely be an exciting month for SUV enthusiasts, as there will be 4 big new SUV launches across different segments. The list includes Renault Kiger subcompact SUV, new Tata Safari, Citroen C5 Aircross and Skoda Kushaq. Here’s a brief on the upcoming new SUVs, which are scheduled to hit roads next month.
1. Renault Kiger
Renault India is ready to foray into the highly competitive sub-4 metre SUV space with the Kiger. Ahead of its launch, the model has started arriving at dealerships and its unofficial bookings have been commenced across the country. Reports suggest that the Kiger will be priced lower than the Nissan Magnite that’s currently available at Rs 5.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Renault SUV will share its platform, features and engines with the cousin Magnite. 2. Tata Safari
The new Tata Safari SUV will be the first big launch from the home-grown carmaker this year. The SUV will be made available with both 6 and 7-seats configurations and a 170bhp, 2.0L Kryotec turbo diesel engine. It’s the same motor that does duty in the Harrier. The model can be had with either a manual or a torque converter automatic gearbox. In terms of features, the new Safari offers Benecke Kaliko oyster white upholstery, a new panoramic sunroof, fully automatic climate control, 3rd row AC vents, 6-way powered driver seat, iRA connected tech and a 9-speaker JBL audio system. 3. Citroen C5 Aircross
Citroen will roll out its first offering in India – the C5 Aircross – next month. The model lineup will come in two variants – Feel and Shine – powered by a 177bhp, 2.0L diesel engine. The oil burner will be paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and deliver a claimed mileage of 18.6kmpl. Interestingly, its rear bench seat has three individual units that can be folded individually if required. 4. Skoda Kushaq
Skoda Kushaq, the upcoming mid-size SUV from the Czech carmaker, will take head-to-head against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The SUV will be made available with the 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI petrol and 1.5L, 4-cylinder TSI petrol engines and three gearbox options – 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic, and 7-speed DSG automatic. It will be the first production-ready Skoda car to be built on MQB A0 IN platform and developed under the brand’s India 2.0 Project.
