The 2021 Ford Equator 7-seater SUV was recently caught on camera in its production avatar in China. It’s one of the products that developed under Ford Motor Company and Jiangling Motor Corporation JV. The model is likely to hit showrooms in China in the first half of 2021.
One must note that the new Ford Equator won’t come to India. However, the India-bound Ford C-SUV might share some of its design bits with the new Equator 7-seater SUV.
The front fascia of the SUV carries a large chromed grille with octagonal air intake, narrow LED headlamps with DRLs and a large bumper with wide air dams. The bold shoulder creases, flared wheel arches with black plastic cladding and chromed window line enhance its side appearance. The SUV has ‘Equator’ badging on the tailgate along with tailgate mounted license plate with silver diffuser and twin exhaust pipes. You can also notice the interconnected LED taillamps.
The overall length, width and height of the SUV stand at 4905mm, 1930mm and 1755mm respectively. The new Equator SUV sits on a 2,856mm long wheelbase. The 2021 Ford Equator is likely to be packed with features such as dual screens setup (one for touchscreen infotainment system and one for the digital instrument cluster), ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) and TAI 3.0 connected car technology. The new Ford 7-seater SUV might be offered with 6 and 7-seats configurations. The former will offer captain seats for the middle row passengers.
Under the hood, the 2021 Ford Equator is likely to house a 2.0L EcoBoost twin-turbo petrol engine with an automatic gearbox. Its power output will be around 224bhp. The SUV can be had with either RWD (rear-wheel-drive) or 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system.
