The Citroen C5 Aircross SUV has finally made its India debut. While the official launch of the model is slated to happen in March 2021, its production has already begun at CK Birla’s facility in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. Once launched, the new Citroen SUV will go head-to-head against the Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass. Initially, the model will be imported as CKD unit and is estimated to cost around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). The carmaker will bring in a single, fully-loaded variant that will be sold across 10 select cities.
Under the hood, the C5 Aircross features a 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine boosted with idle start-stop system. The oil burner has been tuned for delivering a top power of 180bhp. The SUV has an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox for performing transmission duties. The unit has a shift-by-wire system ensuring smooth shifting through the press of knobs. Similar to several global PSA models, the Citroen C5 Aircross underpins the EMP2 platform. The overall length, width and height of the model stand at 4500mm, 1840mm and 1670mm respectively. Compared to its arch rival – Hyundai Tucson, the new Citroen SUV is 25mm longer and 10mm taller. It has a 2730mm long wheelbase and 230mm of ground clearance.
The C5 Aircross looks sporty with elements such as the signature two-part grille, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, black bumper with integrated fog lamps, roof rails, C-shaped chrome finish and blackened pillars and LED taillamps. Features such as an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with latest smartphone connectivity, a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a hands free boot opening will be reserved for the top-end variant.

The new SUV is offered in 7 color options – Pearl White, Cumulus Grey, Tijuca Blue, Pearla Nera Black, and Pearl White with black roof, Cumulus Grey with Black roof and Tijuca Blue with Black roof.
Citroen C5 Aicross comes with a boot space of 580-litres, which can be extened to 1,630-litres by folding the second row of seats. The seat can be moved forward, which increases the boot space significantly to 720-litres. The SUV also gets Hands-Free Electric Tailgate, which can be accessed by moving your feet under the rear bumper. The boot can be closed with the touch of a button.
