Adding to it, the homegrown automaker could also showcase the updated Safari and the Harrier SUVs at the 2023 Auto Expo.

The homegrown automaker will also present 3 new electric vehicles at the 2023 Auto Expo. It is reported that the brand’s next electric vehicle will be based on the Punch subcompact SUV. In fact, the Tata Punch EV will make its global debut at the 16th edition of Indian Auto Expo. Adding to it, the company will also showcase the Curvv SUV Coupe EV concept and the Avinya EV Concept at the auto show. These two models could receive some changes to offer a fresh feel. This will also allow Tata Motors to gauge customers interest on the brand’s future EVs.

The electrified Punch will be designed on the GEN 2 (SIGMA) platform, which is basically the heavily modified version of the ALFA architecture. The platform will be optimised for electrification, as the transmission tunnel will be removed to create a flat floor to accommodate a larger battery pack. It is expected to be offered with two battery pack options – a 26kWh borrowed from the Tigor EV and a 30.2kWh sourced from the Nexon EV. It is likely to offer a range of over 300km.

Tata Curvv

Tata Curvv Concept SUV

The company had showcased the Curvv EV concept in April 2022. This concept previews the brand’s next step towards the electric future. Tata confirms that the SUV Coupe will be offered with multiple powertrains including Pure EV, Petrol & Diesel. The electric model is based on the modified X1 platform that underpins the Nexon range. It is expected to receive a larger 40kWh battery pack with range over 400kms. The new model will rival the likes of the MG ZS EV, the Hyundai Kona EV and the Mahindra XUV400. It is likely to measure 4.3 meters in length and will ride on a longer wheelbase.

Tata Avinya

Tata Avinya EV

The Avinya is the brand’s first concept model to be based on the GEN 3 architecture – ‘Born Electric’ that supports multiple body styles. The new architecture will provide more cabin space with the same footprint. Tata’s Born Electric is a skateboard pure EV platform that allows designer to use “best weight and space efficiency”. Powertrain details of the all-new Tata Avinya EV are yet to be revealed. Tata aims to offer an electric range of over 500km for all its future EVs that will be designed on its GEN 3 platform.
