Hyundai Diesel SUVs In Great Demand – Creta, Tucson, Alcazar

Hyundai Motor India has revealed that the company will continue to invest for enhancing performance of its SUVs’ diesel engines in the country. Tarun Garg, Director of Sales, Marketing & Service at Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said that the diesel models accounted 26 percent of its total sales in 2022, which is equivalent to the figures recorded before implementation of the BS6 emission norms in 2020. The company is witnessing high demand of the diesel variants in the premium end SUV market.

While the Hyundai Creta diesel has 54 percent contribution to its total sales, the Tucson and Alcazar account for 72 and 75 percent respectively. In the lower (subcompact) SUV segment, the Hyundai Venue diesel constitute only 23 percent. While the diesel variants have 64 percent contribution in the mid-size SUV segment, it’s 94 percent in the high-end SUV space in financial year 2021. He also revealed that almost 45 percent of Hyundai’s sales come from the vehicles priced over Rs 10 lakh.

In other updates, the South Korean automaker is gearing up to showcase its new and updated range of models at the 2023 Auto Expo. The mega automotive event is slated to begin on 13th January. The new Hyundai Creta facelift will be among the show stoppers at the company’s pavilion. This time around, the SUV will be offered with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). The suite provides access to multiple active and passive safety features including autonomous emergency braking with forward collision avoidance, blind spot monitoring system, rear cross traffic collision, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.

The new Creta will come with improved styling featuring a new parametric grille stretching across its entire width, more rectangular headlamps, newly-designed boot lid, sharper taillamps connected via a plastic panel and a tweaked rear bumper. Engine and gearbox combinations will be carried forward from the current model.
