As promised, Maruti Suzuki showcased its three all-new SUVs at the Auto Expo 2023 in Greater Noida. The range includes the eVX electric SUV concept, Fronx compact SUV and Jimny SUV. In fact, the pre-bookings for the new Maruti Fronx and Jimny SUVs have been commenced across all Maruti Suzuki dealerships. While the former is reported to go on sale in April, the latter might witness a market launch by August 2023. The production-ready version of the Maruti electric SUV will arrive in early 2025. Maruti eXV
The Maruti eVX will be the first global electric SUV from the Indo-Japanese automaker, based on the dedicated EV architecture. The platform will be co-developed with Suzuki and Toyota that will be used for the brands’ future SUVs. Measuring 4.3m in length, the eVX will feature a 60kWh battery and deliver a range of around 550km. The model will also be offered with a smaller 48kWh battery pack promising a range around 400km. The new Maruti electric concept has coupe-SUV looks with a sloping roofline merging with the raked rear windscreen and tailgate. Maruti Fronx
The new Maruti Fronx SUV carries the Nexa’s ‘Crafted Futurism’ design language. Buyers will have five monotone and three dual-tone colour options to choose from. Under the hood, the SUV will employ the all-new 1.0L K-series Boosterjet DI petrol engine benefited with mild hybrid technology and a 1.2L K-series Dualjet Dual VVT engine with Idle start stop technology. Transmissions on offer will be a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters and AMT. Maruti has packed the Fronx with lots of features such as a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system with the wireless smartphone connectivity, HUD, 360 degree camera, etc. More details here…
Maruti Jimny
With the new Maruti Jimny SUV, the carmaker aims to attract lifestyle vehicle buyers and off-road enthusiasts. It’s one of the much-awaited new Maruti Suzuki SUVs in the country. For power, the model uses a 1.5L K15B petrol engine making 104bhp and 135Nm. Both manual (5-speed) and automatic (4-speed) gearboxes will be on offer. The higher variants will get AWD system with low range transfer case. The SUV will be made available in 7 colour schemes – Kinetic Yellow, Sizzling Red, Sizzling Red with Bluish Black roof, Granite Gray, Pearl Arctic White, Bluish Black and Nexa Blue.
