Auto Expo 2023 has got off to a flying start with the unveiling of the much-awaited Maruti Suzuki Fronx Coupe SUV. It will be the first coupe-style cross-hatch from the Indo-Japanese automaker in the country. The company has started accepting bookings for the new Maruti Fronx SUV. While its official launch date is yet to be announced, the model is likely to go on sale by April 2023.
Based on Suzuki’s Heartect platform, the Coupe SUV will be sold via premium Nexa dealerships. Here, the Maruti Fronx will be positioned against the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
Design Details
Design and styling of the new Maruti Fronx SUV is inspired by the new Grand Vitara and Baleno hatchback. In fact, some of its design elements look similar to the Maruti Futuro-e concept that was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. Read – Maruti Jimny Bookings Open; Launch Details
The front fascia has been adorned by the brand’s new signature grille and the split headlamp setup with slim LED DRLs as we have seen in the Grand Vitara. The new Maruti SUV also features flared wheel arches, alloy wheels, raised waistline, coupe-like roofline and curved rear glass area.
Colour Options
The new Fronx SUV will be offered in 6 monotone colour options including Nexa Blue, Arctic White, Grandeur Grey, Earthen Brown, Opulent Red and Splendid Silver. The dual-tone shades include Earthen Brown with Bluish Black, Opulent Red with Bluish Black and Splendid Silver with Bluish Black.
Interior, Features
Interior of the new Maruti Coupe SUV shares resemblance with the Baleno hatchback. The model has a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Suzuki Connect and voice commands.
Features such as a digital console, a multi-functional steering wheel, wireless charging, Heads-Up display, a 360 degree camera, rear AC vents, automatic AC unit, dual-tone interior, hill hold assist, electronic stability program, 3-point ELR seat belts and 6 airbags are also on offer.
2 Engine Options
Under the hood, the new Maruti Fronx employs the BS6-compliant 1.0L Boosterjet, turbocharged petrol engine. The motor, which has been boosted with the mild hybrid tech, pushes out a peak power of 102bhp and 150Nm of torque.
The Coupe SUV will also be available with the 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic unit. The new Maruti SUV misses out on the AllGrip AWD tech.
