Maruti Suzuki is ready to give mid-life updates to its select popular models, namely, WagonR, Baleno, Ertiga and XL6. Besides this, the company will bring in the second-generation Brezza in the country. According to a fresh media report, the 2022 Maruti Brezza, Ertiga and XL6 will be offered with a new 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox instead of the existing 4-speed unit. The new transmission will be borrowed from the global-spec Suzuki Vitara SUV.
With the new 6-speed automatic gearbox, the new Brezza, Ertiga and XL6 will comply with the upcoming CAFÉ 2 (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) regulations that will be implemented in April 2022. The new unit has been benefited with the advanced technology and offers a sport mode, manual shift option and added ratios. All these attributes will improve shift times and overall performance of the vehicles. Furthermore, the new 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox will enhance fuel economy and reduce carbon emission levels.
The new 2022 Maruti Brezza, Ertiga and XL6 automatic variants will be slightly more expensive than the existing 4-speed automatic models. The new Ertiga will be the first model to receive the new automatic transmission, followed by the new-generation Brezza and XL6 facelift. While the 2022 Maruti Ertiga is reported to launch in March, the Brezza will come in the month of April. The latter might also be offered with the CNG fuel option. The 2022 Maruti XL6 is likely to arrive in May or June.
The report further states that the Indo-Japanese automaker might also introduce its new 6-speed automatic gearbox on Ciaz sedan and S-Cross crossover model lineups. In other updates, the company is gearing up to launch the Baleno facelift with comprehensive design changes and feature upgrades in the last week of February. The hatchback will get a bigger infotainment system, connected car tech, Head-Up Display (HUD), wireless smartphone connectivity and 6 airbags. Its engine setup, however, will remain unchanged.
