In the second week of January 2022, Classic Legends introduced the new range of Yezdi bikes that includes Adventure, Scrambler and Roadster. All models are based on the dual-cradle chassis, and powered by a 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Though, the overall design, features and power figures of the new Yezdi bikes are different. Speaking to an online media publication, Anupam Thareja, Co-founder of Classic Legends, has revealed that the new Yezdi Roadking is under development. It’s reported to debut towards the end of 2022 and its launch might happen in early 2023.
Here’re key details of the all-new Roadking we know so far.
1. Flagship Model
The iconic Yezdi Roadking will return in its new avatar and it will be placed as the brand’s flagship model. That means, it will be the most expensive Yezdi bike in the country.
2. Retro-Styling
Official details of the new model are still under the wraps. Though, it’s likely to retain the original retro charm. Similar to the Yezdi Adventure, it might carry round LED headlamp, tear-drop shaped fuel tank and chrome finished dual exhausts. In terms of features, the bike might offer a semi-digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, multi-mode ABS (anti-lock braking system), a USB charger and turn-by-turn navigation system.
3. Same Platform
Similar to its siblings, the 2023 Roadking will be based on the existing Jawa platform.
4. More Powerful Engine
As per the reports, the new Yezdi Roadking will have bigger capacity engine than other Yezdi models. It could be offered with a 652cc, single-cylinder engine, borrowed from the BSA Gold Star. The motor pushes out a peak power of 45.6PS and 55Nm of torque. Compared to the Royal Enfield Interceptor, it’s around 2PS less powerful and 3Nm less torquier. The bikemaker might de-tune the 652cc engine to make it an affordable deal. For performing transmission duties, the bike will have a 5-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.
5. Competition
The bike’s new model is likely to lock horns against the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 that costs between Rs 2.58 lakh – Rs 3.10 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s estimated to be priced around Rs 2.60 lakh.
