It’s no secret that Maruti Suzuki is working on the new-generation Vitara Brezza subcompact SUV. The new model is reported to hit showrooms during 2021 festive season. The compact SUV’s second-generation version will witness comprehensive cosmetic and feature upgrades. If reports are to be believed, the 2021 Maruti Vitara Brezza is likely to come with a stronger hybrid system. It might receive a 48V SHVS hybrid system with 104bhp, 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine.
Suzuki’s stronger hybrid system might also be offered on the upcoming Maruti mid-size SUV (YFG_ and the Baleno-based crossover (YTB). The new Vitara Brezza will continue to offer a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, the existing 4-speed automatic transmission is reported to be replaced with a 6-speed automatic unit.
This time around, the compact SUV might also be offered with the BS6-compliant 1.5L diesel engine and CNG kit. The updated oil burner is expected to power the Maruti Ertiga. Its BS4 version, which was good enough for 94bhp and 225Nm, was discontinued post BS6 implementation.
Rumour has it that the 2021 Maruti Vitara Brezza will be packed with goodies such as a wireless charger, connected car technology, a sunroof, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and 6 airbags. The compact SUV might also underpin the modified version of the existing C-platform.
In other updates, the Indo-Japanese carmaker is gearing up to launch the next-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio. The hatchback is likely to see a release in the month of May. The 2021 Maruti Celerio will be designed on Suzuki’s Heartect platform and it will bigger than the current generation. Besides significant design changes and feature upgrades, the hatch will receive a 1.2L, 4-cylinder petrol (83bhp/110Nm) and a 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol (67bhp/91Nm) engine. There will be two gearboxes on offer – a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.
