2021 Maruti Vitara Brezza To Use Strong Mild-Hybrid System, Diesel Engine

We recently reported that Maruti Suzuki will introduce the next-gen Vitara Brezza compact SUV in the Q3, 2021, before Diwali. A new media report suggests that 2021 Maruti Vitara Brezza is likely to retain the rugged, squared-off and upright stance. The SUV will retain the boxy shape, and spacious cabin (with space for 3 adults in the second row) along with large boot.

It was speculated that the 2021 Maruti Vitara Brezza will use the modified version of the existing C-platform, which also underpins the global Vitara. However, the report claims that the new model will be based on the Suzuki’s lightweight Heartect platform. It is reported that the engineers will strengthen the floor of the monocoque structure. This architecture will allow MSIL to add more modern electric and electronic architecture. The SUV will be benefitted with several new systems including connected car tech and advanced safety systems.

New Maruti Vitara Brezza Accessories

The 2021 Maruti Vitara Brezza will be powered by the BS6-compliant 1.5-litre K15B, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that powers the current model. This engine is reportedly to be offered with a stronger mild-hybrid system. Maruti Suzuki is likely to add larger battery and a more powerful electric motor to achieve higher fuel efficiency. In the current form, this engine produces 104bhp and 138Nm of torque.

Adding to it, the new Brezza will receive a diesel engine. It will be powered by a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine, which is also expected to power the Ertiga MPV. This engine was discontinued due to BS6 emission norms. In the BS4 form, the 1.5L engine offers 94bhp of power and 225Nm of torque.

The new Brezza is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 12 lakh. It will be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and others in its category. The current Brezza was first introduced in 2016, which received a mid-life facelift in early 2020 – at the 2020 Auto Expo.

Maruti Suzuki Plans

This year, Maruti Suzuki will also introduce the new-generation Celerio hatchback and the Swift facelift. It is also reported that the Indo-Japanese automaker is readying the new Alto 800, which will be introduced before the end of this year.

MSIL is also readying a new Baleno based crossover and the 5-door Jimny. The 5-door Jimny is likely to be launched by July 2022. Adding to it, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota JV is readying a new mid-sized SUV and an all-new C-MPV for the Indian market.
