The Suzuki Jimny LWB (long wheelbase) version was recently spotted testing in Europe. Speculations are on rife that it could be the same model that will arrive in the Indian market. If launched, the upcoming Maruti Jimny 5-door (Jimny LWB) will compete against the Mahindra Thar and the upcoming new Force Gurkha. Here, it’s estimated to cost around Rs 10 lakh. The compact off-road SUV will be sold Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa dealerships across the country. Its launch is reported to happen by early 2022 (possibly in the month of July).
A latest digital rendering, which is based on the spy pictures, previews the production-ready model of the Suzuki Jimny LWB (Maruti Jimny 5-door). Painted in blue shade, the rendered model has contrast black cladding on the squarish wheel arches and side panels, along with black front and rear bumper and roof. Some of its other design highlights include black grille with the signature chrome badging at the center, circular headlamps, fog lamps with black surrounding, black alloy wheels, longer rear windshield and tailgate mounted black spare wheel.
Interior of the Suzuki Jimny LWB still mystory to us. Though, it’s likely to be similar to the Jimny 3-door version. The safety kit might be carried forward from the Europ-spec model that includes 6 airbags, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), Isofix child seat mounts, a lane assist system and a seat belt reminder. Under the hood, the Jimny LWM (Maruti Jimny 5-door) is likely to employ Suzuki’s 1.5L, 4-cylinder K15B naturally aspirated petrol engine. The gasoline motor pushes out a peak power of 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. It’s the same motor that does duty to Ciaz sedan and Vitara Brezza albeit in slightly lower 102bhp state of tune. Transmissions choices will include a 5-speedmanual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic unit. The compact off-road SUV might get 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system with a low range transfer case. It will be based on a ladder-frame chassis.
