Maruti Suzuki Swift, the popular hatchback from the Indo-Japanese carmaker, is ready to receive a mid-life update next month (February, 2021). The facelifted model will come with slightly tweaked styling and a pack of new features. However, the major change will be made under its hood. The 2021 Maruti Swift will be powered by a new 1.2L, 4-cylinder K12N Dualjet petrol engine that also does duty in the Dzire compact sedan.
The new gasoline motor has been boosted with idle start-stop technology that improves its fuel economy. Features such as piston cooling jet, higher compression ratio and cooled EGR system further enhance its frugal nature and reduce friction. The new Dualjet petrol engine has been tuned for delivering a maximum power of 90bhp and 113Nm of torque, thus making the new Maruti Swift facelift more fuel efficient.
The hatchback’s existing 1.2L, 4-cylinder K12M engine makes power worth 83bhp and 113Nm of torque. The 2021 Maruti Swift facelift is likely to return fuel economy of 23.26kmpl and 24.12kmpl with manual and AMT gearboxes respectively. Currently, the hatchback with 1.2L K12 petrol engine promises 21.2kmpl. The model lineup will be available with the 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox options.
With the mid-life update, the Swift is likely to receive a new dual-tone colour scheme – Orange with Black roof option. As mentioned above, the new Maruti Swift 2021 will witness minor upgrades inside and out. Its interior might be revised with new upholstery and an updated touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
While the hexagonal shape of the front grille will remain intact, it will get a new mesh detailing. The higher trims will be exclusively offered with automatic LED headlamps, LED DRLs, 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and a rear parking camera.
Official launch date and details of the 2021 Maruti Swift facelift are likely to be revealed in coming days. Stay tuned to IndiaCarNews.
