Maruti Suzuki has a handful of new models, which are slated to launch this year. The lineup includes the updated Swift hatchback, new-generation Celerio, Vitara Brezza and Baleno. According to a fresh media report, the 2021 Maruti Celerio will hit showrooms in the month of April. We have already seen multiple spy pictures of the hatchback’s second-generation model that revealed interesting design and feature details.
One of the major changes is likely to come in the form of new Heartect platform that already underpins several Maruti Suzuki cars. It will make the hatchback more spacious and safer than the current model. The new Maruti Celerio will also have bigger dimensions and sit higher than the existing model. A few noticeable changes will be made to its exterior.
The second-generation Celerio will carry a newly-designed grille, revised headlamps and bumper, new door handles, and slightly tweaked taillamps. The spy pictures reveal that the 2021 Maruti Celerio will get a 7.0-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system along with a new instrument cluster, newly-designed dashboard, steering wheel and centre console. The infotainment unit is likely to come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The carmaker might also equip the hatchback with automatic climate control, steering mounted controls and a few more goodies.
Engine setup of the 2021 Maruti Celerio will include a 1.2L, 4-cylinder petrol and a 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol unit. While the former will make power worth 83bhp, the latter will be good enough for 68bhp. The hatchback can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT unit. At present, the Celerio hatchback lineup comes in the price range of Rs 4.53 lakh – Rs 5.78 lakh (ex-showroom). With all-new platform, more powerful engine and better equipped interior, the model is likely to witness a price hike of around Rs 50,000 – Rs 60,000.
