2020 Mahindra Thar Launching Before April 2020
The next-generation Mahindra Thar is expected to be unveiled at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo.
The next-generation Mahindra Thar has been spotted multiple times while testing on the Indian roads. The SUV is expected to make global debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo, while launch will take place before April 2020.
The next-generation 2020 Mahindra Thar will be based on the updated GEN3 ladder frame chassis that underpins the current Scorpio and the TUV300. The SUV will grow in size, which is evident in the spy images available on the internet. Adding to it, the next-gen Thar will come with the factory-fitted Hardtop. This will be the first time that the Thar will come with a factory-fitted, removable hard-top. The 2020 Mahindra Thar will be wider and bigger than the outgoing model, which translates into more cabin space.
Mahindra has taken the customers feedback in the development of the next-gen Thar, as the existing owners opted for the aftermarket hardtops. The hardtop model will be more practical and will suit different weather conditions. This particular model will be equipped with the front facing rear seats.
The new-gen Thar’s platform will be stronger than the outgoing unit, but it could affect the off-road capabilities. The upcoming model will be stronger enough to meet the new crash test and safety norms. The 2020 Mahindra Thar will also be fitted with several modern day features including automatic climate control, new multi-functional steering wheel, a touchscreen infotainment system, etc. By adding hardtop model and modern features, Mahindra is aiming to target wide range of buyers. It will be powered by a newly developed 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which will be compliant with BS6 emission norms. This engine is likely to produce around 140bhp of power.
