The dashboard also has a provision for a large touchscreen infotainment system, which is likely to be a 9.0-inch unit similar to the one offered in the Alturas G4. Lower variants could feature a smaller 7.0-inch unit that is available in the XUV300 and the Marazzo.

It is expected that the new-generation Scorpio will share several features from the Marazzo including the steering wheel, gear knob,, control stalks and the instrument cluster. The new model will also receive the forward-facing seats. The design of the SUV was conceptualised at Mahindra’s North American Technical Centre in Detroit, United States. This engine is expected to produce up to 170bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox will come as standard, while an automatic unit could join the lineup at a later stage.

The next-generation Mahindra Scorpio will rival the likes of the MG Hector, the Tata Harrier, the Hyundai Creta and the upcoming SUVs from Maruti Suzuki and Ford. The new model is expected to make a global debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo in February.
