2020 Mahindra Scorpio Interior Spied With Alturas-like Features
The next-gen Mahindra Scorpio is expected to be unveiled at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo
We informed you earlier that the next-generation Mahindra Scorpio will arrive in the country in 2020. The SUV has already been spotted while testing on the outskirts of Chennai. For the first time, the interior picture of the upcoming Scorpio has hit the web-world.
Internally called Z101, the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio gets premium interior with several high-end features. It gets an all-new dashboard layout, which looks wider than the outgoing model. The dashboard also has a provision for a large touchscreen infotainment system, which is likely to be a 9.0-inch unit similar to the one offered in the Alturas G4. Lower variants could feature a smaller 7.0-inch unit that is available in the XUV300 and the Marazzo.
It is expected that the new-generation Scorpio will share several features from the Marazzo including the steering wheel, gear knob,, control stalks and the instrument cluster. The new model will also receive the forward-facing seats. The design of the SUV was conceptualised at Mahindra’s North American Technical Centre in Detroit, United States. The all-new Mahindra Scorpio will be based on the thoroughly updated ladder-frame chassis. The SUV gets all-new design with the upright silhouette, a longer wheelbase and stronger body. It will be powered by a newly developed 2.0-litre BS6-compliant diesel engine that will also power the new Thar and the new-gen XUV500. This engine is expected to produce up to 170bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox will come as standard, while an automatic unit could join the lineup at a later stage.
The next-generation Mahindra Scorpio will rival the likes of the MG Hector, the Tata Harrier, the Hyundai Creta and the upcoming SUVs from Maruti Suzuki and Ford. The new model is expected to make a global debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo in February.
