Kia Seltos SUV is scheduled to make debut on June 20, 2019
Kia Motors has officially announced that the highly-awaited mid-sized SUV will be called Kia Seltos. Based on the SP2i concept showcased at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, the Seltos is scheduled to make its global debut on June 20, 2019. The company claims that the “Kia Seltos will bring sophistication and never seen before attention to details and design in the mid-SUV segment.”
The name ‘Seltos’ is inspired by Greek mythology and the legend of ‘Celtos’ the son of Hercules. The ‘S’ in the name implies speed, sportiness and strength. Kia said that the Seltos combines the practicality of a mid-SUV with the capabilities of a traditional SUV – all in a compact package, but without compromises.
Commenting on the Kia Seltos, Mr. Manohar Bhat, Head – Marketing and Sales, Kia Motors India, said “Seltos is all set to redefine the mid-SUV car segment with its eye-catching looks, exclusive segment first features and athletic design. We have spent a lot of time in perfecting our car to suit the taste of the Indian customers and I am glad that this originally India intended car is so perfect that it compelled us to make Seltos available globally. The car looks absolutely stunning and very closely matches the SP concept we showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. I am confident that Kia Seltos would be an outright favorite when it hits the roads in the next few months.”
It is based on the thoroughly upgraded Creta’s platform, which is compatible enough to accommodate longer wheelbase or 7-seater SUV. The 7-seater version of the SUV is expected to be launched on a later stage. The next-gen Hyundai Creta will also be developed on this platform. In terms of styling, the Kia Seltos gets the signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, dual-headlamp setup with LED daytime running lights and separate main headlamp, vertically stacked fog lamps, aggressive bumper and a faux skid plate. It gets strong shoulder line and flared wheel arches with big wheels. At the back, the Kia Seltos gets wraparound LED tail-lights and a chunky bumper with a skid plate and reflectors. Other features include dual-tone roof, roof rails and roof-integrated spoiler. Also See – Kia Carnival MPV India Launch in 2020
