Toyota first introduced the new-generation Fortuner in 2015, which is now 3 years old in India. The company has introduced the upgraded Fortuner with subtle changes in terms of features. This update comes as a buffer before Toyota brings the next-generation model. Besides this, Toyota has also introduced the facelifted version of the Innova Crysta. The 2019 Toyota Fortuner comes with new interior scheme and feature upgrades.

The 2019 Toyota Fortuner SUV will also receive the BSVI compliant diesel and petrol engines, however, the upgraded engine setup will come in 2020. The new model gets option of new chamois interior colour, seat perforation and heat rejection glass. However, these features are applicable to 4X2 AT, 4X4 MT & 4X4 AT diesel variants only. The SUV is available with 2 engine options – a 2.8-litre diesel and a 2.7-litre petrol.

2019 Toyota Fortuner Specifications

The updated Fortuner is equipped with the existing set of engines, which includes a 2.8-litre GD diesel & a 2.7-litre petrol. However, both the engines will meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms in 2020. The 4-cylinder, in-line turbocharged diesel engine is capable of producing 174.5bhp of power at 3,400rpm and 450Nm of torque between 1,600 to 2,400rpm. Transmission options include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic unit.

On the flip-side, the gasoline version of the SUV gets a new 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder unit that is good for 163.7bhp of power and 245Nm of torque. 2019 Toyota Fortuner Mileage

Since the Fortuner hasn’t received many changes in terms of power and efficiency of engines, the mileage numbers remain the same. While the manual diesel version delivers 14.24kmpl, the automatic model is claimed to return 12.9kmpl. The mileage for petrol manual and automatic variant rated at 10.01kmpl and 10.26kmpl respectively.

In terms of proportions, the new Fortuner is 4,795mm in length, 1,855mm in width and 1,835mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,745mm. It comes with a ground clearance of 225mm that is more than sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions. The fuel tank capacity is massive at 80-litres.

Toyota retains the existing colour scheme – all-black – for the new Fortuner cabin. The company is also offering the new Chamois interior colour scheme. The SUV comes equipped with new perforated seats and heat rejection glass. It was expected to receive major upgrades, though company hadn’t made any significant changes. 2019 Toyota Fortuner Design

In terms of styling, Toyota has not made any changes to the Fortuner SUV. The Fortuner is fitted with prominent grille, massive bumper and fog lamps. The vehicle gets sweptback headlamps with LED daytime running lights. It features a large bumper with reflectors, black air dams and chrome finished fog lamps, the side profile gets squared wheel arches, black cladding and chrome treatment around window lines. The flared wheel arches have been fitted to 17-inch or 18-inch wheel shod with all-terrain tyres. At the back, the SUV gets a chic styling with LED tail-lights, new bumper with integrated reflectors, roof mounted spoiler, etc. The TRD Sportivo variant is equipped with TRD radiator grille and lower grille cover, 18-inch TRD alloy wheels, blacked out roof and pillars and TRD inspired exterior accents.
