2019 Toyota Fortuner Facelift

2019 Toyota Fortuner facelift is likely to be launched in the second half of 2019.

Toyota first introduced the new-generation Fortuner in 2015. The SUV is already 3 years old and is set to receive a major upgrade in 2019. This will act as a buffer before Toyota brings the next-generation model. Besides this, Toyota is also working on the facelift of Innova Crysta. The 2019 Toyota Fortuner facelift is expected to arrive in the second half of 2019. Not just ASEAN markets, the Fortuner will also enter into the North American markets.

The 2019 Toyota Fortuner is likely to be launched for the first time in Canada as well. Instead of introducing the existing model, Toyota would be aiming at giving a fresh life to the Fortuner SUV. The updated model will first go on sale in the Asian markets, followed by other countries including Australia and Russia. Mechanically, the upcoming Fortuner won’t see any major upgrades. However, India-spec model could receive BS6 ready engines.

2019 Toyota Fortuner Launch Date

The company is yet to make an official announcement on the launch of the new Fortuner SUV. However, media reports claim that the SUV could be launched in 2019 in select Asian markets. 2019 Toyota Fortuner Price In India

The outgoing Fortuner is available in the price bracket of Rs 27.23 lakh – Rs 32.93 lakh. The India-spec model will receive a BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines, which will make it slightly expensive than the outgoing model. We expect the new Fortuner to cost between Rs 29 lakh and Rs 35 lakh.

2019 Toyota Fortuner Specifications

The updated Fortuner will continue to feature the existing set of engines, which includes a 2.8-litre GD diesel & a 2.7-litre petrol. However, both the engines will meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. The 4-cylinder, in-line turbocharged diesel engine is capable of producing 174.5bhp of power at 3,400rpm and 450Nm of torque between 1,600 to 2,400rpm. Transmission options include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic unit.

On the flip-side, the gasoline version of the SUV gets a new 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder unit that is good for 163.7bhp of power and 245Nm of torque. 2019 Toyota Fortuner Mileage

Since the Fortuner won’t receive many changes in terms of power and efficiency of engines, the mileage numbers are likely to remain the same. While the manual diesel version delivers 14.24kmpl, the automatic model is claimed to return 12.9kmpl. The mileage for petrol manual and automatic variant rated at 10.01kmpl and 10.26kmpl respectively.

2019 Toyota Fortuner Dimensions

The Fortuner facelift is not likely to receive any changes in terms of proportions. The outgoing model measures 4,795mm in length, 1,855mm in width and 1,835mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,745mm. It comes with a ground clearance of 225mm that is more than sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions. The fuel tank capacity is massive at 80-litres.

Toyota is likely to retain the existing colour scheme – all-black – for the new Fortuner cabin. The SUV is expected to receive new leather upholstery, while the dashboard could receive new chrome accents. 2019 Toyota Fortuner Design

In terms of styling, Toyota could revise the front face of the new Fortuner to give it a fresh feel. The SUV is likely to share design changes with the upcoming new-gen Hilux pick-up truck. It is expected to get new prominent grille, new bumpers and fog lamps. While the current car borrowed DRLs from Corolla, the facelifted Fortuner could share the headlamps with the upcoming Hilux. The side profile is not likely to see major changes, except for the new set of alloys. At the back, the SUV is likely to get new tail-lights and revised bumper. The Fortuner could also receive rear fog lamps.
