2014 BMW X3 facelift India launch on August 28

2015 BMW X3 will be making its India debut on August 28, 2014, confirmed BMW India. The baby SUV’s latest iteration had its world premiere at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The facelifted model comes up with an array of cosmetic changes and a minor mechanical upgradation. Initially, the X3 SUV was launched in India in 2011 and it is the first time after almost 3 years to its launch, that it getting a refreshed version.

The front fascia of the BMW X3 facelift now follows the new design philosophy of the company, adorning bigger headlamps. The front kidney-shaped grille is a reminiscent of the elder sibling X5’s grille. Additionally, the newly designed front bumper, altered tail lamp cluster and a brand new set of alloys grace the new X3 which also makes it appear a tad fuller and bigger. Inside the cabin, the centre console has a high-gloss finish. Also, there are all new cup holders along with updated upholstery design. Moreover, the tail gate now opens electrically.

Mechanically, BMW X3 comes loaded with 2.0L and 3.0L diesel engine options in the country. The former engine, being smaller, churns out 184bhp of top power and 380Nm of peak torque with the ongoing model. But, on the contrary, in the international arenas, the same engine now musters out 6bhp of added power and there is also an significant improvement in the fuel efficiency by 7.1 percent. However, the bigger engine, the 3.0L, 6-cylinder, 24V is expected to retain its power and torque figures. As known, the X3 is assembled locally at company’s Chennai manufacturing unit and it would be continuing do so with the facelift version too. The 2015 BMW X3 facelift will lock horns with the likes of Audi Q5, Land Rover Freelander 2, Mercedes ML Class, and Volvo XC60. It is expected to be priced in a bracket of Rs. 42 – 52 Lakhs.
