While the model still misses out on the petrol unit like its predecessor, the 1.6-litre oil burner has also been dropped. The tried and tested 1.3-litre oil burner, which powers most of Maruti cars, has been bestowed with Maruti’s SHVS technology. With these changes, the new S-Cross seems to have improved, while we still need to see if the facelift could turn out to be a saviour for the compact SUV. New Maruti S-Cross

-The new Maruti S-Cross comes only with the 1.3L oil burner.
-Contrary to the expectations, the SUV misses out on the petrol engine.
-The larger 1.6L diesel unit has also been left out in the facelift.
-Additionally, Maruti is offering SHVS technology on the 1.3L unit.
-With these changes, the new S-Cross price falls in the range of Rs 8.49 lakh to 11.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Old Maruti S-Cross

-The old model of S-Cross was available in two diesel engines, 1.3L & 16L.
-The carline with five variants was priced from Rs 7.94 lakh to Rs 11.66 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

New Maruti S-Cross

-The 2017 Maruti S-Cross facelift comes only in diesel engine, missing out on the petrol unit.
-While the 1.3L oil burner continues powering S-Cross, the more powerful 1.6L diesel unit has been dropped.
-Maruti has introduced its mild hybrid technology, SHVS on the 1.3L unit.
-Transmission duties are carried out by the conventional 5-speed manual gearbox.

Old Maruti S-Cross

-The old model was also offered in diesel option, with a choice of two engines.
-The smaller capacity 1.3L oil burner sourced from Fiat put out 89bhp, whereas the higher displacing 1.6L delivered 118bhp.
-The carline was available with two gearbox options, a 5-speed unit and a 6-speed gearbox.

New Maruti S-Cross

-The S-Cross facelift features a couple of additional features.
-It gets Maruti’s 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink connectivity.
-In addition to the above features, S-Cross facelift also gets double sliding panoramic glass sunroof.
-Other bits such as a new soft-touch dashboard pad, revised instrument cluster with MID, new upholstery etc have also been added to the facelift.

Old Maruti S-Cross

-Infotainment features like audio system with CD player, steering mounted audio & calling controls, Bluetooth connectivity and audio remote control were offered from Delta onwards.
-Prominent bits like Smartplay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, navigation system, voice command and smartphone app were available only on the higher trims.
-The carline featured standard comfort goodies including central locking, key less entry, power windows, power-operated wing mirrors, driver side auto up/down, 60:40 split rear seats and electric backdoor opening.
-While the higher trims offered power folding ORVMs, telescopic steering, sliding front centre armrest, driver seat height adjuster, cruise controls, engine push start/stop etc.

New Maruti S-Cross

-In terms of safety, the S-Cross facelift packs in dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts as standard across line-up.
-It additionally gets keyless entry with push start-stop button, rear parking sensor and rear camera.

Old Maruti S-Cross

-Standard bits on the predecessor include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belt pretensioners with force safe limiters, ISOFIX child seat anchors, pedestrian protection compliance etc.
-Vitals features such as HID-projector headlamps, auto headlamps, auto dimming IRVM were specific to the Alpha trim.
-While reverse parking sensor with display, reverse parking camera, rear demister and rear wiper & washer were offered from Zeta onwards.
-In 2015 ASEAN NCAP crash tested S-Cross produced in Hungary for the Malaysian and Singaporian markets. Equipped with 7 airbags, ESC etc, the SUV received 5-star rating for adult occupant protection and 4-star rating for child occupant protection.
