Maruti Suzuki S-Presso Outsells Renault Kwid In September, 2019
With the all-new Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, the Indo-Japanese carmaker marked its entry in the mini SUV segment.
Despite the fact that the vehicle went on sale on the last day of September, the carmaker managed to dispatch 5,006 units of the mini SUV to its dealerships across the nation. The numbers are likely to increase in coming months.
The Renault Kwid recorded total sales of 2,995 units in September 2019 as opposed to 5,529 units of the same month last year, accounting a decline of 45.83%. Priced from Rs 3.69 lakh to Rs 4.91 lakh, the Maruti S-Presso is being favoured for its compact design, high sitting position, engine performance and drivability. September has not been a good month for carmakers in India as the market continued to witness negative year-on-year (YoY) sales performance. With total sales of 46,525 units, the small car segment witnessed YoY sales decline of 22.9%. Talking about the Maruti S-Presso, the mini SUV lineup comes in 4 trim levels – Std, LXi, VXi and VXi+ – packed with a 1.0L petrol engine. The gasoline motor meets the upcoming BS6 emission norms. Its power and torque outputs stand at 68bhp and 90Nm respectively. Both manual and AMT gearbox are on offer.
