Maruti Suzuki XL5 – Premium Version of WagonR Rendered

Maruti Suzuki XL5

We have reported earlier that Maruti Suzuki is working on a premium version of the WagonR hatchback that will be retailed via Nexa dealerships. Rumour has it that the new WagonR variant could be named ‘Maruti Suzuki XL5’. A few days ago, we have seen a heavily camouflaged prototype of the vehicle. Though, a fresh digital rendering based on the spy pictures reveals a possible design of the Maruti XL5.

The Nexa-bound Maruti XL5 will retain the original tall-boy design and dimensions. Though, it will receive minor design changes including split headlamps with LED DRLs, newly-designed upper and lower grille, revised front bumper and repositioned fog lamps at the front fascia. The lower side of the front bumper and the side body baseline get silver touch-ups. Read – Maruti Suzuki Cars and SUVs Get Cheaper

Compared to the WagonR, the Maruti XL5 has slightly raised bonnet. Its 15-inch black alloy wheels seem inspired by the Maruti Ignis. At the rear, the new premium version of the WagonR features high-mounted stop lamp and LED taillamps.

Similar to the other Nexa vehicles, the Maruti XL5 will be made available in Nexa Blue colour scheme. Interior of the hatchback’s new premium variant will be exactly similar to the WagonR. Though, it’s likely to get new trim and seat upholstery along with a bunch of new comfort and convenience features. Read: Maruti Suzuki S-Presso – How Different Is It From Alto?

Engine setup of the Maruti XL5 might include the same 1.0L, 3-cylinder K10B and 1.2L, 4-cylinder K12M petrol engines generating 67.98PS with 90Nm and 82.94PS with 113Nm respectively. Transmission options on offer are likely to be a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT unit.
