Tata Buzzard SUV India

Tata Buzzard SUV is likely to launch during 2019 festive season.

Tata Buzzard is surely one of the much-awaited launches of this year. The 7-seater SUV, that made its global debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, will sit above the Hexa in the company’s product lineup. The Buzzard is essentially the 7-seater version of the Harrier and will carry a different nameplate in the Indian market. Speculations are on rife that the production version of the SUV will be called ‘Tata Cassini’.

Ready to take on the Mahindra XUV500 and the upcoming MG Hector, the Tata Buzzard recently spotted in its production form on the Indian road. The SUV will share its platform (OMEGA) and several design bits and features with the Harrier. Though, its B-pillar will be longer and boxier and taillamps and rear bumper will be slightly revised.

In order to accommodate the third row of seats, Tata has increased the Buzzard’s length by 62mm. Its wheelbase, however, is similar to the Harrier – i.e. 2741mm. Design elements such as the honeycomb grille, LED DRLs and pronounced wheel arches will be carried over from its younger sibling.

For power, the Tata Buzzard will make use of the same 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine that does duty in the Harrier. Though, it will be tuned for generating power close to 170PS with 350Nm of torque. The 7-seater SUV is likely to have an optional 6-speed torque converter gearbox along with the standard 6-speed manual transmission. Read – Tata Altroz Hatchback Launching Soon

The Tata Buzzard is expected to be priced Rs 1 lakh to 2 lakh more premium than the Harrier that’s currently available in the price range of Rs 12.69 lakh – Rs 16.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
