Made-In-India Honda Amaze Gets 4 Stars In Global NCAP Crash Test

The ‘Made-in-India’ Honda Amaze compact sedan has scored a commendable four stars in the latest Global New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) crash test. The frontal impact test results indicated that the driver and passenger were well-protected by the front airbags. The Honda Amaze was crashed into a deformable barrier with a 40% offset at a speed of 64kmph. While the chest protection for the driver and front passenger was adequate, the knees showed marginal protection. The bodyshell was rated as stable and it was capable of withstanding further loading. The footwell area was also stable.

While the compact sedan achieved four stars in adult occupant protection, it scored one star in child occupant protection. The child dummies showed probability of head and other injuries. Despite the CRS with ISOFIX, the child seat for a 3-year-old was not able to prevent excessive forward movement on impact. In the case of the 18 month old dummy, its head contacted the seat backrest. The Africa-spec Honda Amaze offers dual airbags, a driver seatbelt reminder and front seatbelt pre-tensioners as standard safety fitments. As per India’s latest safety norms, the sedan’s India-spec model comes with the standard seatbelt reminders for both front occupants and a speed warning system.
