Toyota and Suzuki Partnership Explained – 5 Car Launches

Toyota and Suzuki to jointly develop new cars, electric platforms and new technologies.

It is no secret that Toyota and Suzuki has officially joined hands to develop cost effective products. The brands will help each other to enter into new segments. Adding to it, the JV will also work on developing new elective vehicles, platforms, technologies and products. Maruti Suzuki will help Toyota to enter into new segments of India. Here we bring you 5 new cars that will be launched under the new Joint Venture in India –

– Toyota’s Baleno

The first model to arrive in India under the new JV is the re-badged Baleno hatchback, which will be sold under Toyota’s nameplate. The hatchback won’t receive drastic changes, except for the Toyota’s signature grille and badging. The hatchback is likely to be offered in petrol version only. – Toyota’s Ertiga

Japanese automaker will introduce the re-badged Ertiga MPV in India. A possible launch in 2020 can’t be ignored. This model will come equipped with BSVI compliant 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine.

– Maruti’s Corolla

Toyota will provide the new generation Corolla hatchback to Maruti Suzuki. The Indo-Japanese brand will re-badge this model with new grille and badges. It is expected to be launched in the late 2020 or early 2021. It is most likely to be introduced as hybrid model.

– Toyota’s Ciaz and Vitara Brezza

Toyota will also launch the re-worked Ciaz and Vitara Brezza in India, but these two models will take some time. The Ciaz and Vitara Brezza are likely to receive next-generation models in 2021-22. In fact, the JV has officially announced that Toyota will start production of the next-gen Vitara Brezza at its Bidadi plant from 2022.

New Premium MPV

Toyota and Maruti has also revealed that they are working on an all-new premium MPV, which will be positioned right between the Ertiga and Innova Crysta. The new MPV will be based on the monocoque platform and will rival the Mahindra Marazzo. This model is expected to arrive in 2021-22.
