Toyota Ertiga MPV Rendered – What to Expect?

Toyota Ertiga Rendering

Toyota’s version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga rendered with Toyota Rush design elements.

We informed you earlier that Suzuki and Toyota have joined hands to co-develop new products, electric cars, platform and technologies developing nations including India. The companies will help each other to enter into new segments and to increase their market presence. Maruti Suzki will supply Baleno, Vitara Brezza, Ciaz and Ertiga to Toyota, which will be re-engineered to look like Toyota’s. These models will be launched in the next 2-3 years.

Here is a rendering of the Toyota’s version of the Ertiga MPV, which shows the possible design changes. The company will first launch the re-badged Baleno by the end of this year, while the production of Toyota’s Brezza will commence in 2022. The rendering shows that the Ertiga received design changes in-line with Toyota’s models for the ASEAN markets. The front grille and headlight in the rendering seems identical to that of the Toyota Rush SUV.

The front grille also gets chrome treatment, while the Chrome strip can be seen under the windows and the door handles. The front bumper is new, featuring new fog lamp enclosure. Other design highlights include roof rails and new diamond cut alloy wheels. It is expected that Toyota will make visual makeover only, though the sheet metal is not likely to receive any upgrades. It is highly unlikely that Toyota will make changes to the cabin of the Ertiga MPV. The Toyota’s version of the MPV will retain the existing look and features, though the vehicle could receive new seat upholstery and slightly revised interior colour scheme. The MPV would receive the SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment with modern connectivity features.

We believe that Toyota could opt for the petrol version of the Ertiga MPV, as the demand for the diesel models are continuously going down. Moreover, the upcoming BSVI emission norms will make diesel cars expensive by up to Rs 1.5 lakh. The new model will be powered by the BSVI compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 104bhp and 138Nm of torque. For people not in the know, Maruti Ertiga will soon receive a new 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 94bhp and 225Nm of torque.
