Skoda Karoq SUV Launching In India Within 2-3 Months
Skoda Karoq SUV production begins in India.
We informed you earlier that the Skoda Karoq 5-seater premium SUV will arrive in India in the 2019-20 financial year. The SUV has already been spotted a couple of times in India. According to Team-BHP report, production of the Skoda Karoq has been started at the company’s Aurangabad facility. The report further claims that Skoda is planning to launch this SUV in India sometime in April-May 2019.
The service staff training is expected to start in March 2019. The report claims that the SUV will arrive as a premium model and is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs 25-30 lakh. The Skoda Karoq is built on the Volkswagen Group’s versatile MQB platform that also underpins the Kodiaq. The Skoda Karoq will be imported to India via a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route. In terms of proportions, the SUV is 4,382mm in length, 1,814mm in width and 1,605mm in height. The SUV has a long wheelbase of 2,638mm and stands at a ground clearance of 200mm. The SUV also has a boot space of 521-litres, which can be further extended up to 1,810-litres by folding the rear seats completely.
The Skoda Karoq styling is inspired with the Kodiaq 7-seater SUV. It features the signature Skoda grille flanked by rectangular sweptback headlamps. The front bumper accommodates a wide air dam and trapezoidal fog lamps. It comes with wraparound LED tail-lights and big bumper with integrated reflectors.
The Skoda Karoq is expected to arrive in petrol and diesel guise. The petrol version could receive the 1.5-litre turbocharged unit, while the oil burner will be a tried & tested 2.-0-litre unit. The report also suggests that the company could also offer the BSVI compliant 1.6-litre diesel engine along with DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
