Mahindra XUV300 With Sunroof Spied Testing; Launch Timeline Revealed

After Ford EcoSport and Honda WR-V, the Mahindra XUV300 will be the third model in its category to get factory-fitted electric sunroof

Mahindra will soon launch an all-new sub-4 Meyer SUV – codenamed S201 – in the country. Likely to be called the Mahindra XUV300, the small SUV will take on the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. The compact SUV is reportedly to be launched in January 2019.

We informed you earlier that the XUV300 will come equipped with an electric sunroof. Now, the sunroof equipped variant has been spotted testing on Indian roads. For people not in the know, Ford EcoSport and Honda WRV also comes with a factory fitted sunroof. With Nexon, Tata offers this feature as an optional accessory. This feature will be offered on the top-spec model only.

The small SUV will also come equipped with segment leading comfort and convenience features. The feature list includes cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity features like Android Auto and Apple Carplay, rear parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, leather seats, automatic air-conditioning, multi-functional steering wheel, etc.. The SUV also has LED headlamps with DRLs, LED tail-lights, push-button engine start/keyless entry, 7-airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, hill launch assist, etc.

It is based on the SsangYong Tivoli’s X100 platform. The company also plans a 7-seater model on this platform, which will take on Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and the upcoming Tata Harrier. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that is likely to produce over 120bhp of power. The small SUV will also get a petrol option, which will be powered by a newly developed 1.2-litre engine. This engine will reportedly have a power output of around 140bhp, which will make it the most powerful in its category.
