Mahindra Ssangyong Tivoli

The upcoming Mahindra XUV300 sub-4 meter SUV will directly rival the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport.

Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown UV maker is no longer the undisputed king of the utility vehicle segment in India. Brands like Maruti Suzuki and Tata is giving stiff competition to Mahindra. In fact, Maruti is currently the number 1 brand in terms of passenger UV sales in India. In a bid to improve its sales, Mahindra is gearing for the launch of 3 all-new models – a sub-4 meter SUV, a premium MPV and a 7-seater premium SUV – in India.

The first model to go on sale is the sub-4 meter SUV, codenamed S201, which will be followed by a new U321 MPV. The Mahindra S201 will also receive a 7-seater derivative, which will be positioned against the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. The sub-4 meter model will directly rival the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport. The small SUV is likely to follow XUV nomenclature and could be called Mahindra XUV300.

In order to get the upper hand in the highly competitive compact SUV segment, Mahindra is planning to load this small SUV with segment leading features. The company has recently organized a preview to review this compact SUV. The top-end model of the compact SUV is equipped with high-end features like LED headlamps with daytime running lights, LED tail-lights, leather seats, push-button engine start/keyless entry, 7-airbags and a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity.
