Mahindra & Mahindra has officially revealed that the production version of the U321 MPV will be called the ‘Mahindra Marazzo’. The home-grown carmaker has also released a few teaser pictures of the MPV revealing its silhouette and minor design details. Interestingly, the Mahindra Marazzo MPV will be based on the company’s all-new platform. The company claims the MPV will have world class body built and offer the best-in-class ride.
The design and development of the new Mahindra MPV took place at Mahindra’s North American Technical Centre. In the MPV space, the Mahindra Marazzo will take head-to-head against the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (base variant) and the Toyota Innova Crysta (top-spec variant). The carmaker’s new flagship MPV will go on sale before 2018 festive season.

Under the hood, the Mahindra Marazzo will house a new 1.6-litre mFalcon diesel engine, which has been developed with inputs from SsangYong. A new 1.5-litre engine will also be offered on the model lineup. However, the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed the technical specifications of the car. The design and interior details of the MPV are also under the wraps. Though, we have a fair idea about its exterior styling and features – thanks to the multiple spy pictures. Mahindra’s new 7-seater MPV will feature the signature toothed grille, projector headlamps, LED DRLs, split radiator air-inlets and sculpted hood at the front end. Other highlights will include sporty multi-spoke alloys, chromed door handles, ORVMs and roof rails, LED taillamps, a large tailgate and a roof mounted spoiler. Interior of the Mahindra Marazzo is likely to be packed with several advanced connectivity and comfort features such as a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone compatibility, leather wrapped seats, air-con vents across rows and multi functional steering wheel. It will get the first-in-segment smart cooling system. The MPV will come with both 7-seats and 8-seats layouts.
Besides the Mahindra Marazzo, the home-grown carmaker will also introduce the XUV300 compact SUV and XUV700 7-seater SUV. While the former will go on sale in coming months, the latter will hit roads during 2018 festive season.
