The Toyota Innova has been the company’s most successful car to date in the Indian market. This model was first launched in 2005 as a replacement for the Qualis. At the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, Toyota had introduced the new Toyota Innova Crysta. Launched in late 2016, the new model received an excellent response from car buyers. The current model derives power from the 2.4-litre GD, VNT Intercooler diesel engine with 146.9bhp power and 343Nm torque. The 2.8-litre GD diesel unit on the other hand makes maximum power of 174.5bhp against 360Nm torque. Powered by the 2.7-litre petrol engine, the petrol Innova is good for 166bhp against 245Nm torque. Transmission choices include a conventional 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic unit. With minimal changes on the MPV, expect insignificant change in pricing.
With the latest generation change, Innova received copious changes to the exterior, interior and mechanicals. To offer more space to the occupants, Toyota increased the length, width and height. Toyota Innova Crysta 2018 Engine & Transmission
The new Innova Crysta is available in three engine choices including one petrol and two diesel units. Diesel powered Innova gets a choice between the 2.4-litre GD VNT inter-cooler and 2.8-litre GD oil burner. Petrol version is offered with a single 2.7-litre dual VVT-I engine. In terms of power, the 2.4-litre oil burner makes 146.9bhp of power against 343Nm torque and the 2.8-litre unit puts out maximum power of 174.5bhp with 360Nm torque. Just so you know, the 2.4-litre mill is claimed to be 10% more frugal than the previous 2.5-litre engine.
The 2.7-litre four cylinder, DOHC dual VVT-i petrol unit on the other hand generates 166bhp at 5,200rpm along with 245Nm torque at 4,000rpm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic unit that is available on GX and ZX trims. While the 2WD drivetrain is standard, select variants are offered with the 4WD system. The Innova Crysta 2018 facelift will reportedly use the same engine set up and transmissions.

Toyota Innova Crysta 2018 Mileage
In terms of mileage, the GS diesel engines powering Innova Crysta are claimed to be 10% more frugal than the previous 2.5-litre 2KD-FTV and 3.0-litre 1KD-FTV units. The new generation Crysta has seen slight increase in mileage with the 2.8-litre AT rated at 15.29km/l and 2.4-litre MT at 15.10km/l. Since the facelift is expected to use the same engines, the fuel economy is likely to remain unchanged.

G-The G variant in the line-up packs in a 7-inch entertainment system with voice commands and Bluetooth connectivity, two-tone interior colour scheme with silver accents, door ajar warning, rake-and-reach, adjustable steering wheel, anti-theft system, dual front airbags and drive knee airbag, ABS, EBD and 16-inch alloy wheels
V–Along with the above-mentioned features, the V grade additionally gets a larger 8-inch entertainment system, a TFT screen for the MID, ambient LED lighting and automatic climate control.
Z-In addition to the features on the V trim, the top-spec Z grade receives smart entry with push button start, wood-finishing on panels, VSC (vehicle stability control) curtain airbags, HAC (hill-start assist control), LED projector headlamps and 17-inch alloy wheels.
One must note that the 2018 Innova Crysta facelift is expected to get all the above features from the current model. Toyota could add some new tech to the model, though there is yet no clarity on the same.

Toyota made changes to the proportions to carve out more space for the occupants inside. The current generation Innova Crysta measures 4,735mm in length, 1,830mm in width and 1,795mm in height. It sits on a 2,750mm long wheelbase and equips 215/55 R17 sized tyres at front and rear. The ground clearance is around 190mm, which makes it compatible with the Indian roads. As for the facelift, it is unlikely to receive any dimensional changes.

Built on Toyota’s new IMV (International Multi-purpose Vehicle) architecture referred as the FIRM (Frame with Integrated Rigidity Mechanism), the new Innova is claimed to be lighter, safer and stronger than its predecessor.
Toyota has made significant change to the front and side impact structure and the new Crysta is claimed to offer better handling and ride quality, courtesy the use of new underpinnings. Use of new elements has completely transformed the looks as the second-generation model looks more upmarket. Some of the design cues on the current Innova Crysta have been borrowed from the new Fortuner, Camry, Altis and Highlander. Up front, it gets a new chrome laden dual-slat grille and wide air-dams cascading on the bumper.
Furthermore, the swooping headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights reiterate the premium look. The higher trims now get the LED projector headlamps. At the side, it gets the 17-inch alloy wheels and narrower glass that gives it a new identity. Prominent changes have been made to the front as it gets new taillamps as well as multi-layered bootlid. In addition to the above changes, the rear sports reworked bumper and chrome treatment around the license plate enclosure. Talking about the proportions, the new Innova Crysta now measures 150mm longer, 70mm wider and 35mm taller. With these changes, the MPV measures 4,735mm in length, 1,830mm in width and 1,795mm in height. Though, the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,750mm.
