RE’s new 650cc twin motorcycles are reported to go on sale in September or October, 2018.

With an aim to strengthen its position in the mid weight motorcycle segment, Royal Enfield is all set introduce the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 in global markets. The RE 650cc bikes will also make its way to India. While both the bikes were confirmed to hit showrooms by mid 2018, a latest report claims that their launch has been delayed for the second half of 2018. RE’s new 650cc motorcycles are now reported to go on sale in September or October, 2018. The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 are, currently, in their final stage of development and the bikemaker aims to match quality standards of the bikes with its close competitors. Furthermore, the company also focuses on its distribution network and production capacity for ensuring on time delivery of the vehicles.

Previewed at the 2017 EICMA Motor Show in Milan, the RE Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 are build up from ground based on all-new chassis. The bikes also uses a brand new 650cc, parallel-twin, oil-cooled engine boosted with fuel injection technology. This motor has been developed by Royal Enfield’s UK Technology Centre and Chennai teams.

Royal Enfield claims that the brand’s new powertrain will deliver smooth and unparalleled performance. It will be tuned to offer torque across the rev range and deliver smoother and more stable ride compared to the existing Royal Enfield bikes. The power and torque outputs of the new RE engine stand at 47bhp at 7,100rpm and 52Nm at 4,000rpm respectively. Prices of the new Royal Enfield 650cc twins are likely to fall between Rs 3 lakh – Rs 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Both the bikes will take on the Harley-Davidson Street 750 and the Kawasaki Z650.
