New Toyota Corolla hatchback won’t come to India instead we will get the new-gen Corolla sedan in 2019.

2019 Toyota Corolla hatchback is all set to make its public debut at New York Auto Show next week. Prior to its official unveiling, the company has release pictures and details of the vehicle. Sharing its underpinning with Prius (Toyota New Global Architecture), the Corolla hatchback will be offered in two grades – SE and XDE – in the North American market. One must note that the Corolla hatchback won’t come to India instead we will get the new-generation Corolla sedan sometime in 2019.

The US-spec Corolla hatchback will look different and have a new set of features than the Toyota Auris (Europe-spec) that broke cover at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Ditching the 1.8-litre engine, the 2019 Toyota Corolla hatchback will make use of a new 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol motor. The power and torque outputs of the new gasoline unit are still under the wraps. The hatchback will come with a 6-speed manual and a CVT gearbox options. In terms of dimension, the new Corolla hatchback is longer (1.5-inch), wider (1.2-inch) and sits lower (1-inch) than the old model. The wheelbase, too, has been increased for better cabin space. Design of the 2019 Toyota Corolla hatchback is heavily inspired by the US-spec C-HR and Camry luxury sedan. Interior of the 2019 Toyota Corolla hatchback is packed with lots of goodies including a large, floating touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a Qi wireless charging, Amazon Alexa integration, integrated headrests for the front seats, etc.

With respect to safety, the new Corolla hatchback gets Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 that includes lane departure warning, auto high beams, pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist and dynamic radar cruise control. Features such as seven airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist come as standard.
