The Datsun redi-GO AMT version could be Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 pricier than the regular model.

Following the footsteps of its French cousin Kwid, Datsun redi-GO will soon receive an AMT unit. It is expected that Datsun will officially launch the Datsun redi-GO AMT early next year after January 15, 2018. The redi-GO AMT will be offered on the 1.0-litre engine available on the T(O) and S variants in the carline. Therefore, Datsun could offer the AMT unit on these two variants only.

As for the pricing, expect the AMT version to be available at an additional premium of Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 over the regular version. Priced below Kwid, the model from Nissan’s low-cost brand shares engine an and underpinnings with its French cousin (Kwid). The 1.0-litre petrol unit which makes top power of 67bhp against 91Nm torque will get the same 5-speed AMT unit from the Renault Kwid and the gear selector will get the same rotary dial used in Kwid.

There will be no change in terms of exterior styling and the interior will also be carried over from the manual version. Likewise, the feature list will also be retained. That said, the LED daytime running lights, all-black interior, silver finish on the AC vents and red accents on the seats offered on the top-spec redi-GO manual variant will reportedly be offered in the AMT version. Also, the basic infotainment system from the 1.0-litre redi-GO with CD player, USB and AUX-In will be carried over. While the audio system misses out on the Bluetooth, the driver side airbag is also optional on the top-spec variant. Upon its launch, the Datsun redi-GO AMT will compete with models like Renault Kwid AMT and Maruti Alto K10 AMT.
