French automaker, Renault has announced that it will launch an all-new car in the Indian car market every year. The company has launched the Captur crossover in 2017 and will launch the new Duster and a 7-seater MPV in the next 2 years. If media reports are to be believed, Renault has patented the Sandero hatchback in India. Besides Sandero, the company has also patented the Logan sedan and Logan MCV. This suggests that Renault could launch its affordable global cars in India. Talking about Renault Sandero, the hatchback is currently on sale in several international markets under Dacia and Renault badge.
While the company has patented the Dacia Sandero, we believe that the hatchback will be sold under Renault nameplate. The model sold globally measures over 4 meter in length, but India-spec model could sit under 4 meter. This B-segment hatchback will challenge the likes of Ford Figo and Maruti Swift. It is quite early to comment whether Renault will launch the Sandero in India. The company has patented the hatchback in the country, indicating that Renault is considering the car for Indian market.

The Sandero could be launched as a B-segment hatchback and will be positioned against Maruti Swift and Ford Figo. We believe that the small car could be priced between Rs 4.5 lakh and Rs 7 lakh.

The African-spec model is powered by a 898cc multipoint injection engine producing 88bhp and 135Nm of torque. In India, the hatchback could receive a 1.2-litre engine that also powers the Renault Pulse. This engine is capable of producing 75bhp of power and 104Nm of torque. A five-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels could be offered as standard.
Renault Sandero Dimensions
The global model sits above 4 meter in length. It measures 4,058mm in length, 1,994mm in width and 1,518mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,589mm. However, the India-spec model will sit below 4 meter. The hatchback offers a boot space of 320-litres.
