DC Avanti, the country’s first indigenous sports car will be launched in the Indian car market on April 15, 2015. First unveiled as a concept at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo, the DC Avanti sports car will be priced around Rs. 35 lakh. Bookings for the car have already commenced, while the deliveries are expected to commence this month.
Dimensionally, the Avanti is 4550mm long, 1965mm wide and 1200mm tall, and it comes with a ground clearance of 170mm that is very apt for the Indian driving conditions. The flared wheel arches of the sports car have been fitted to 20-inch wheels, affixed with 255/35 front tyres and 295/30 rear tyres.
It features a mid-mounted 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine that churns out a maximum power output of 248bhp and a peak torque of 24.6kgm. A six-speed manual transmission is the only available option. The braking system comprises of 330mm ventilated four-pot disc brakes at the front and 295mm at the rear. Anti-lock braking system developed by Continental will be offered as standard. Inside the cabin, the Avanti has three-spoke steering wheel, stacked screens on centre console, hooded dials, touchscreen infotainment system, soft touch buttons for air-conditioning, etc.
