With the growing demand for fuel efficient bikes in the highly competitive Indian two-wheeler market, Hero Moto-Corp, world’s largest two-wheeler maker, has produced a motorcycle which is claimed to be the most fuel efficient bike in the world. According to the people associated with testing said that the highly fuel efficient bike could upset the current domestic market dynamics.
Hero MotoCorp’s Splendor iSmart has been tested and certified by an Indian agency for commercial launch. According to the latest fuel efficiency values certified by the central government’s International Centre for Automotive Technology (iCAT), the new generation Splendor iSmart returns an excellent 102.5 kmpl of fuel efficiency. The current Splendor iSmart is powered by a 100cc, air-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder engine that churns out 7.9bhp of power at 7500rpm and 8.04Nm of torque at 4500rpm.
Two-wheeler makers in India have to declare the Fuel efficiency values (Obtained during emission test) of their bikes under the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers guidelines. It is well known that the mileage offered by vehicle in riding conditions is different than the mileage obtained under controlled conditions. If reports are to be believed, the Splendor iSmart will go on sale in the next few weeks.
Currently, seven Hero MotoCorp bikes find their place among the list of 10 most fuel efficient two-wheelers in the country. The rest three places was acquired by Bajaj Auto and TVS motor bikes.
