Yamaha R15M Launching Soon – What We Know So Far?

Recently, a test mule of upcoming Yamaha faired motorcycle was spotted testing in the country. While it was reported to be the new-generation R15 V4, a new homologation document suggests that it could be the Yamaha R15M. Just so you know, Yamaha uses ‘M’ badge for its faired, sportier motorcycles and ‘S’ badge for the more affordable ones. The new R15M is likely to be premium variant of the R15 featuring sportier design elements. It’s likely to witness a release during this Diwali season (i.e. October – November, 2021).

The new Yamaha R15M carries a projector LED headlamp with LED DRLs that seems inspired by the R7. The revised fairing further distinguishes it from the R15. The test mule was equipped with a more premium inverted suspension unit at the front axle. The leaked document confirms that the new Yamaha bike will source its power from a 155cc, single-cylinder engine that does duty in the R15. The motor pushes out a peak power of 18.24bhp at 10,000 and 14.1Nm of torque at 8500rpm.
