Yamaha FZ-X Coming This Friday – 6 Important Details

Yamaha FZ-X, the upcoming retro motorcycle from the Japanese carmaker, is surely one of the much-awaited bike launches of this year. Unofficial bookings have already been commenced at an initial sum of Rs 1,000 – Rs 10,000. While its prices are set to be announced on 18th June, deliveries might start by August 2021.

Design, Features

The upcoming Yamaha FZX will share some of its key features and engine with the Yamaha FZ and FZ-S. Design and styling will be inspired by the XSR series. The spy pictures reveal that the model will feature a retro-styled circular LED headlamp with aluminium finished brackets, a boxy fuel tank and upright handlebar, a flat seat and boomerang-shaped radiator guard. There will also be an upswept exhaust and a digital instrument console.

Engine Specs

As mentioned above, the new Yamaha FZ-X will borrow the powertrain from the FZ FI series. That means, it will be equipped with a 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that makes a top power of 12bhp at 7,250rpm and 13.3Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. Suspension, Braking System

Similar to the engine, the suspension and braking mechanism might also be carried over from its naked siblings. The Yamaha FZX is likely to feature the conventional telescopic front forks and 7-step adjsutable monocross rear suspension unit. The retro bike will derive its braking power from the 282mm front and rear disc brakes, which will be further assisted by the single-channel ABS.

Dimensions

The overall length, width and height stand at 2020mm, 785mm and 1115mm respectively. This makes it 30mm longer, 4mm wider and 35mm taller than its naked siblings. The Yamaha FZ-X will have a 1,330mm long wheelbase.

Colours

Expected Prices

Compared to the FZ FI series, the new retro motorcycle is expected to be priced slightly premium. While its non-Bluetooth variant is likely to cost around Rs 1.15 lakh, the Bluetooth equipped model could be priced around Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
