We informed you earlier that Yamaha is now planning to play premium in the Indian market. The company had launched the MT-15 naked streetfighter, new 110cc scooters and the BS6 FZ25 in the country. It is reported that Yamaha will launch the XSR155 cafe racer motorcycle in our market. The motorcycle could be launched during the festive season, Diwali.

Featuring the ‘Sports Heritage’ design language from the bigger XSR900 and XSR700, the Yamaha XSR155 comes with retro-modern styling features. The motorcycle is already on sale in select South Asian markets, where it rivals the Honda CB150R. In the name, the XSR refers to Xtreme Sports Racing.

The Yamaha XSR155 is equipped with the same engine that powers the Yamaha YZF R15 and the MT-15. The 155cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder, four-valve SOHC gasoline engine produces 19.3bhp of power at 10,000rpm and 14.7Nm of torque at 8,500rpm. It is paired to a 6-speed gearbox assisted by a slipper clutch as standard.

This engine comes fitted with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology that ensures optimum power output within variable speeds. The suspension mechanism of the bike comprises of telescopic forks at the front and adjustable monoshock at the rear. Based on the Delta box frame, the new cafe racer is 805mm in width, 2000mm in length and 1,080mm in height. It rides on 17-inch wheels shod with 110/70 front and 140/70 rear tyres respectively.

Dual-channel ABS system will come as standard. The motorcycle has a kerb weight of 134kgs, while the fuel tank has 10-litres of capacity. It is claimed to return around 50kmpl of fuel efficiency. The Yamaha XSR155 naked motorcycle is available with 2 colour options – Matte Silver Premium and Matte Black Elegance. The motorcycle has a seat height of 810mm. It comes with all-LED lighting system , which includes LED headlights, taillights and even turn indicators. This neo-retro styled motorcycle has full LCD instrument display that has color-coded signals and digital meters.
