Volvo Auto India has introduced the V40 hatchback in two trims – Kinetic and R-Design – priced at Rs. 24.75 lakh and Rs. 27.7 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The Volvo V40 will rival the likes of BMW 1 Series and Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
Based on the V40 Cross Country crossover, the Volvo V40 hatchback features auto-bending headlights, re-designed lower fascia vertical taillight stack and 16-inches alloy wheels. While features like panoramic sunroof, sporty alloy wheels, a blackened grille, park assist pilot, keyless drive, rain sensor and sporty interior package are available only on the R-Design variant.
The interior design and equipment, too, are carried forward from the Cross Country. The hatchback comes equipped with adaptive digital display, leather seats, powered front seats, climate control and several other comfort-enhancing fitments. The V40 is the first car to feature pedestrian airbag and protection of 8 airbags in its segment.
The Volvo V40 hatchback is powered with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder D3 diesel engine that also does duty on its crossover sibling. This engine is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission that helps the car deliver a maximum power output of 150bhp and 350Nm of peak torque.
