Volkswagen Taigun To Debut VW’s New Logo In India

In order to enhance its customers’ experience, Volkswagen India has started revamping its dealerships by increasing digitalization and connectivity. The carmaker will also introduce its new logo with the arrival of the Volkswagen Taigun mid-size SUV that’s slated to hit showrooms in August 2021.

The brand’s new logo has flat design with deeper Blue shade, representing Volkswagen’s new, more personalized, more data driven and more connected identity. In fact, the company has already implemented the new design and emblem at 30 touchpoints.

The upcoming Volkswagen Taigun SUV will be built on the MQB-AO IN platform that’s specially designed for the Indian market. The same architecture underpins the newly-launched Skoda Kushaq. Despite sharing the platform and several components, both SUVs look different. VW’s mid-size SUV carries two slat chrome grille, single piece headlamps, front and rear bumpers with chrome insert and different designed taillamp cluster running across the width of the tailgate.

Interior of the VW Taigun is also different from the Skoda Kushaq. The former has a dashboard integrated 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system instead of a free floating unit like the Kushaq. The info unit supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and the My Volkswagen connect app. It has a digital instrument cluster along with features such as wireless charging pad, automatic climate control, USB Type-C port and more. For the safety provision, the new Volkswagen SUV will offer 6 airbags, tyre pressure deflation warning, electronic stability control (standard across the model lineup), Isofix child seat mounts and more.

Similar to the Skoda Kushaq, the Volkswagen Taigun will be available with two turbocharged petrol engines. One will be a 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI motor delivering power worth 115bhp and 175Nm of torque. The other one will be a larger capacity 1.5L, 4-cylinder unit pushing out 150bhp and 250Nm of torque. All variants of the SUV will get a 6-speed manual gearbox. While a 6-speed torque converter will be reserved for the 1.0L TSI petrol engine, a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission will be available on the 1.5L TSI version only.
