Volkswagen Taigun Reported To Launch In August – Creta, Seltos Fighter

A few days ago, we have reported that unofficial bookings of the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun have been commenced at a token amount of Rs 10,000. According to a fresh media report, VW’s new mid-size SUV will hit showrooms by August 2021. Based on the India-specific MQB A0 IN platform, the Taigun will directly take on the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. It will also face challenge from the upcoming Skoda Kushaq and MG Astor SUVs.

The carmaker says that the VW Taigun will be the “safest, strongly built SUV” in its category. The model will share its platform and engines with the Skoda Kushaq. Both SUVs will be offered with the 1.0L TSI petrol (114bhp) and 1.5L TSI (147bhp/250Nm) petrol motor options. The Taigun will get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, while a 6-speed automatic and a 7-speed DSG transmission will be exclusively offered with the 1.0L and 1.5L petrol respectively.

Compared to its arch rivals, the Volkswagen Taigun will have longer wheelbase that’s translates into a more spacious interior. The SUV will feature a new Play infotainment system with a 10.1-inch touchscreen display. The unit has been co-developed by Volkswagen Brazil and Visteon. It will be compatible to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and has built-in apps with multiple personalization options. There will also be wireless charging and connected car technology. Features such as leather upholstery, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, electric sunroof, automatic climate control with touch sensitive buttons and leather wrapped flat bottom steering enhance its comfort quotient. Rumour has it that the new VW Taigun could be offered with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system).

On the exterior, the Volkswagen Taigun features LED headlamps with LED DRLs, VW’s signature grille with chrome strips, sporty bumpers, halogen fog lamps, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, LED taillamps and rear skid plate with chrome garnish.
